If the mixer can't hear, use ear plugs

Respect - all ears?

Are your ears ringing after meetings? If not, you should be worried, because the volume is usually too high.

The fact that older people often complain about too loud music should be taken very seriously, as younger people's ears are more sensitive.

Let's tune down the volumes and keep the days in mind when we're 90 and we would like to hear our grand grand children say our names.

I've had problems on some Nya Vinden nights. The volume has been far too high far too often. Thanks for raising this very imporant matter. Moses and Jesus had no loudspeakers, yet the people had no trouble hearing them.

The younger the singer is, the louder is usually the sound.

I certainly agree that we should often drop the volume at our meetings. Especially for worship when the church should sing along. It feels pointless to sing along if you can't even hear yourself.

On the other hand I doubt that younger people's ears would be more sensitive than elderly people's, except for maybe infants' ears. The reason why elderly people complain more easily is that when you age a part of the middle ear that can dampen sounds slowly loses its ability. Therefore loud sounds feel a lot more incomfortable to elderly people.

That said one should seriously avoid damaging ones hearing. I can assure that tinnitus isn't a particularly nice thing to suffer from..

That´s true. I have got tinnitus for 8 years now and I can tell you that it isn't nice... Whatever you do, it will follow you, night and day.
And I am only 28, so be aware...
